new babies are magic. i really don’t even have words to describe how i feel about meeting my babies. it might be the reason that there’s a part of me that will always want more. and while your first is the ultimate life moment, i have a heart for siblings meeting new babies. i am a bucket of tears when a mama sees her big babies while holding a new babe. it’s also why photographing a newborn while still at the hospital is totally my jam. you’ll hear me say too often – photos on birth day are so important because a newborn will never look this way again.

this family. much more than a client. we’ve shared pieces of our lives with each other since their oldest was new. i’ve been able to walk along side when it was hard and be present through so much joy. and this day. seeing two sisters who are loved and adored in such raw, real and patient ways – meet a baby boy who was dreamt about and prayed for by so so many… the room was filled with tear causing joy but also so much peace and love. it was the kind of moment you soak up. a moment that causes you to cuddle your own a little extra.

so thankful for the honor of being on the first to know list. for being allowed to document one of the sweetest moments as a family grows. and to be able to share it with you. so that you might get that flashback to meeting your littles and feel the need to squeeze them extra. or maybe you are awaiting your own bundle of magic and your heart just flipped with excitement. it will be the. best. day.

have you considered having your baby’s birth day documented at the hospital, birth center or even at home ? i would love to hear from you – fill out the contact form here.

when we were expecting walker, gender reveals were a new thang. i jumped on the bandwagon and enlisted a friend of my sister’s to bake a cake and slip a surprise color in the middle. we invited my sister and mom to our 20 week ultrasound and entrusted my sister with the secret envelope. and you know what happened next?! they opened the envelope in the car and then hit the mall! leaving trev and i the only ones surprised when we cut into that cake. and while all the delicious baby boy clothes were a treat, i did not take that trickery well.

over 5 years later and pinterest visions, it was my sister’s turn. so as she brainstormed the most fun way to announce whether there was a boy or girl baby in that belly – i made her a deal. she would be let off the hook from the grudge i held, if i got to hold the secret. but… the day came and the secret put in an envelope and instead of days, a week maybe for party planning and prep – i was given 30 minutes. they couldn’t deal! they called while still in the exam room saying there was no way they could wait. so i ran around like a crazy person and what you see here is the quickest gender reveal hoopla known to man. (i bought bubble gum too but both she and greg need to work on their bubble skills)

this was a pretty fun surprise. most of us were on the girl train – who know’s why – even the doctor had them thinking girl. that made it even more fun to see them covered in blue.

get ready baby boy! we are gonna love you hard and i hope you’re practicing your ninja skills in there – you’ve already been appointed the fourth turtle.

i don’t know how the word binky became our pacifier name. we tried so hard to make “mute button” stick – isn’t that much cooler? all my babies have been binky babies. and with all my babies, i’ve filled their beds with lots of soothers in hopes that the chance of them finding one in the middle of the night would increase rather than waking me up! can’t say that it worked since we don’t make sleepers, but they don’t wake for a binky, that’s for sure!

when sloane moved to her very own real crib it was also when she created a new wake up routine. first you toss all your binkies so your mama and daddy know you’re serious about getting out of your cage. once released make sure all binkies are accounted for. and if you can get away with leaving the room with one or two, then extra points! and so began my need to capture this cuteness. if you follow me on instagram, you know my regular postings of sloane squeezing under her bed and managing silly positions trying to get her noggin back out. most of the time i just have my phone on me but this day i came in her room with the real camera in hopes of freezing time. it’s now become a game for us and she will even toss pacifiers back under the bed – this day i gave her back the tossed b’s but after some snuggles and play she was rolling them under so she could show of her stealthy crawl.

while most are taken with just an iphone, it has become a personal project for me. just the kind i need in this stage of life with littles. easy, simple and a perfect reminder of a silly little thing that’s all her own – that she won’t do forever. i don’t want it to get lost in the mom fog and with all these photos, there’s no way that will happen.
